Independent Employee Advocacy — Scotland

Your employer has rules.
We make sure they follow them.

Most disciplinary and grievance cases are won or lost on procedural grounds — not employment law. Ark Advocacy analyses your employer's own policies to identify exactly where management fell short of their own obligations. That analysis changes outcomes.

Why Most Employees Lose

The gap nobody fills

Most employees facing disciplinary or grievance proceedings have two options — neither of which is fit for purpose.

When your union isn't enough

In many public sector organisations, union representatives face the same career pressures as management. Representation can be under-resourced, conflict-averse, and — in the worst cases — quietly aligned with the employer's preferred outcome.

Often free. Frequently inadequate.

Solicitors know law. Not your policies.

An employment solicitor charges £150–£300 per hour and focuses on employment law. But most disciplinary cases hinge on whether management followed their own procedure — a completely different question that doesn't require legal training to answer. You may be paying for expertise you don't need.

£150–£300/hour. Often the wrong tool.

Policy analysis is the gap

We read your employer's own policies. We identify every obligation management had before and during the procedure. We establish exactly where they deviated. That written analysis — not employment law — is what changes outcomes in disciplinary hearings, grievances, and tribunal proceedings.

Independent. Affordable. Entirely on your side.

What We Do

Services

Every service is built around one principle — your employer's own policies are the most powerful tool available.

Policy Analysis Report

See Pricing for details

We read your employer's complete policy documentation and produce a written report identifying: every obligation management had, whether they fulfilled each one, where they deviated, and what that means for your position. The report is yours — use it to prepare, to appeal, or as part of an Employment Tribunal bundle.

Hearing Preparation

See Pricing for details

We prepare you to walk into a disciplinary or grievance hearing understanding the procedural ground you stand on. We identify the questions to ask, the points management must address, and the procedural failures you can put formally on the record.

Hearing Representation

See Pricing for details

We attend your disciplinary, grievance, or appeal hearing with you as your representative. We can attend as your representative where the employer agrees. We will advise you on the best way to request this and prepare strong grounds for it. We put the procedural case on the record, challenge non-compliance, and ensure your position is fully and formally stated.

Employment Tribunal Support

See Pricing for details

For cases proceeding to Employment Tribunal, we provide preparation support, documentation review, and lay representation. We are not solicitors and do not provide legal advice — but procedural analysis and lay representation are fully unregulated activities we are legally entitled to provide.

Who We Help

Every sector. Every employer.

Public sector employers have standardised, publicly available policies — meaning management deviations are identifiable and demonstrable. Private sector policies are often less scrutinised, which frequently works in the employee's favour.

NHS & Healthcare

NHS Scotland staff navigating capability, conduct, or absence management procedures

Police & Emergency Services

Police officers, firefighters and emergency service staff navigating complex force and service procedures

Local Government

Council employees across Scotland facing disciplinary or grievance procedures under local authority frameworks

Education

Teachers, lecturers and support staff in schools, colleges and universities

Housing & Social Care

Staff in housing associations, social care and third sector organisations

Private Sector

Private sector employees — policies are often less scrutinised, creating more room to identify procedural failures

The Process

How it works

Three steps from first contact to supported outcome.

01

Get in touch

Contact us for a free 20-minute initial consultation. Tell us what is happening, where you are in the process, and what outcome you are looking for. We will tell you honestly whether we think we can help.

02

We analyse

Send us your employer's policy documents and the correspondence you have received. We produce a written analysis identifying every procedural obligation management had — and every point where they deviated from it.

03

We support you

We provide a written report, prepare you for your hearing, attend as your representative, or all three — depending on what your situation requires. You are never in the room alone.
